Bid to open church school at new Wellingborough housing development
Work has already started on Stanton Cross, the £900 million residential-led development which is set to bring new houses, improved infrastructure and community facilities to Wellingborough.
With families setting up home there, schools will be needed and a proposal is being drawn up by the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET) for a school for youngsters aged three to 18.

The survey states: “The Peterborough Diocese Education Trust is working with the DfE on a proposal to open a new academy school in the Stanton Cross area.
“This will add parental choice in an area of limited school places and where there is a planned new housing development that will further stretch existing school provision.
“We propose that this new school will be a centre of community and will be open for use as a new resource to be accessible outside school hours for local use.

“We are proposing an open, inclusive and welcoming faith school to serve the children of the Stanton Cross area with an all-through quality education.
“Our unique ethos celebrates the value and fundamental worth of each child and seeks to build confidence and transferable skills for employment.
“We need your views as we gather support to include with our application.”

The Stanton Cross scheme is being delivered by Bovis Homes and will include 3,650 houses and create more than 3,000 jobs.
It will also provide 110 acres of employment land and new schools for Wellingborough when complete.
As well as working on a proposal for Stanton Cross, the PDET is also working on similar plans for a church school to be built as part of the new Rushden East development.
