What type of pet should I choose from Woodgreen?

There are often as many as 500 pets at Woodgreen Pets Charity at any one time – and they are all in need of a new home.

From dogs and cats to rabbits, chickens and even rodents, the Cambridgeshire rehoming centre has different types of pets to suit everyone. They also come from different backgrounds and some may need more care than others – from strays to pets which have been given by owners who can no longer look after them because of financial and lifestyle changes, or how the pet behaves.

How is a pet matched with me?

Like dating, the dedicated team of pet carers needs to carefully assess all of the pets in their cares to match them with their new owners.

You just need to register your details via an application form on Woodgreen’s website and let them do the hard work.

Woodgreen’s experts then carefully assess the potential adopter, their lifestyle and their home, to ensure that the match is perfect, so that you and your new pet enjoy a happy life together.

Can anyone adopt a Woodgreen pet?

The only fixed criteria is that you need to be an adult, aged over 18 years.

Whether you work full-time, or are at home with plenty of time to spare, the team at Woodgreen will consider your home environment and match it to a pet you can keep healthy and happy. Finding the right home for the pet is always the priority.

What support is there afterwards?

To give you the best start, the full assessment details of the pet will be shared with you when you adopt them.

Also, to get you up and running, most pets come neutered. They are also up-to-date with their vaccinations, worming and flea treatments. They are microchipped and we will give you four weeks of free pet insurance to help while you are settling them in. Dogs and cats also come with extra goodies to take to their new home.

What really matters is that we stay on hand, whether you have had them for a day or a year, to give support and advice when you need it.
