Demand for garden offices has soared for a county company during the coronavirus lockdown.

Booths Garden Studios, based in Weldon Road, Upper Benefield, says in just one month it has received about 200 inquiries for its rented portable offices.

Now the company, which designs and makes garden studios, is planning to invest in the training of more fitters to meet demand.

Iain Wetherell from Booths said: “With more than 49 per cent of adults in employment now working from home, the future of our working environment could dramatically change from this lockdown experience.

“This home working figure is predicted to increase so we are investing in training more fitters to enable them to fulfil the surge of orders, which are likely to steadily increase as we change how and where we work.

“I think there is also something psychologically important in arriving at a separate working space from your home, even if you have only had to walk down the garden path.

“Our studios don’t require planning permission, for most properties, are zero maintenance due to their coated steel construction and all of the rent paid is classed as an allowable business expense.”
