The restaurant seating capacity has nearly doubled in size to help reduce queuing

A popular Northamptonshire garden centre restaurant has undergone a huge renovation ahead of its reopening.

Beckworth Emporium, near Sywell, will open its restaurant doors to the public for the first time in months on Monday (May 17) and customers will be greeted by a newly revamped venue.

Since October last year, the site has been under construction to improve the facilities.

The restaurant has been extended and capacity is now nearly double, a new kitchen has been installed and both customer toilets and staff facilities have been improved.

A spokeswoman for the emporium said: “When we shut last year the directors decided it was an opportunity to improve facilities, which is impossible to do while still trading.

“The main thing we wanted to do was increase seating in the restaurant to reduce queuing.

“A new kitchen has also been fitted and we have managed to use local contractors who worked seven days a week to get it all done in time to reopen.

“We have also improved a lot of the other areas too.

“We now have a separate entrance and exit and horticulture is three times the size it was before and now wraps around the restaurant, so you are looking out onto the plants while you eat.

“It’s what the customers know and love, just in a bigger space to enjoy it all.”

As part of the expansion, the garden centre has recruited 15 new employees and will have all members of staff off furlough from Monday, for the first time since the pandemic began.

Restaurant dining will continue on a walk-in basis with no booking required.
