Talented local actors, singers, dancers and animators will be taking to the stage for the Corby Youth Arts Slam tomorrow.

The Slam, which will be performed at The Core at Corby Cube, will include original work developed by young people at their weekly workshops: Moves, Clicks, Core Company and Musical Theatre. The Corby Young Actors and Young Dancers companies will also be involved.

After working this term on characterisation and bringing freestyle into set choreography, the Moves 1 street dance group will be seen putting their own spin on the Mad Hatter’s tea party, from Alice In Wonderland. Meanwhile the senior Moves 2 group will transport the audience back to the 1920s and the flapper era in a filmic piece based around different scenes and genres.

The Musical Theatre group will present its own X Factor the Musical, while Core Company has developed a piece inspired by Translunar Paradise, using masks, mime and movement, creating their own silent movie performance.

Corby Young Dancers has been working on a piece of set choreography inspired by the theme of communication, while Corby Young Actors are due to present a piece about exploring the impact of our actions on others, locally and globally.

Clicks Media will be presenting its own animations, created using stop-motion animation techniques and new software CrazyTalk. Pupils from Oakham Primary School will also be sharing some of their animations, created on iPads while working with digital artists this term.

The show will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be booked by calling 01536 470470 or by visiting
