One of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history will be coming to Northampton’s Royal & Derngate next week.

Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Cats, which is based on TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats, tells the story of the Jellicle cats, who meet at a ball where their leader, Old Deuteronomy, announces which of them will go up to the heaviside layer and be reborn into a new life.

Cats first opened at the New London Theatre in 1981 and played almost 9,000 performances.

Cats will run from Monday, September 30 until Saturday, October 5, starting at 7.30pm each evening, with matinees at 2.30pm on Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets cost from £15 to £38 and can be booked on 01604 624811.
