LOVERS of Johann Strauss will be in for a great evening of entertainment this weekend when the magic of 19th century Vienna is recreated at the Royal & Derngate in Northampton.
Irrepressible conductor, Rainer Hersch, will lead the Johann Strauss Orchestra on a light-hearted journey through a sparkling assortment of song and dance, from the classic works of the Strauss family.
Rainer is well-known in the world of music, having appeared numerous times at the Edinburgh Festival and having presented shows on the BBC and Classic FM.
The programme list will include The Blue Danube Waltz, the Radetsky March, the Thunder and Lightning Polka and the Songs of Love Waltz.
As well as Strauss classics, audiences can also enjoy dance music from composers such as Tchaikovsky and Lehar.
The orchestra will be joined by the Johann Strauss Dancers, dressed in colourful period costume typical of this romantic era in history.
Also appearing will be soprano Charlotte Ellett, whose credits include engagements with The Halle Orchesta and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
One Night in Vienna is on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from £30 to £16. To book, call the box office on 01604 624811 or visit www.royalandderngate.co.uk
