Prepare to be scared as a classic thriller comes to the Royal & Derngate.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary with a major tour, the stage production of The Woman in Black comes to Royal & Derngate for a week from Tuesday.

This year’s blockbusting film adaptation, starring Daniel Radcliffe has brought the story’s popularity to new heights, and tickets for the Northampton run are almost sold out.

Based on Susan Hill’s best-selling novel, the play tells the story of a lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family. He engages a young actor to help him tell his story and to exorcise the fear that grips his soul.

It all begins innocently enough, but as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds.

The borders between make believe and reality begin to blur and the flesh begins to creep.

Stephen Mallatratt’s celebrated stage adaptation combines the power and intensity of live theatre with a cinematic quality inspired by the world of film noir.

The Woman in Black is at Royal & Derngate between Tuesday and Saturday, October 13.

The last few remaining tickets are priced from £26.50 to £11.
