A breakneck romp through The Bard’s plays will be offered in comedy style by the Reduced Shakespeare Company when they visit the Core at Corby Cube next week.

The actors, known for their fast, funny and physical condensations of all things serious, will be performing The Complete Works Of William Shakespeare (Abridged) (Revised) on Friday, October 11, at 7.30pm.

These madcap men in tights are set to weave their wicked way through Shakespeare’s comedies, histories and tragedies, performing all 37 plays in 97 minutes.

Since 1981, these “bad boys of abridgement” have created eight stage shows and a host of television specials and radio pieces.

Their first productions, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), The Complete History of America (Abridged) and The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged) enjoyed nine years in the West End, becoming London’s longest-running comedies.

More recently, “the other RSC” created their fifth stage show All The Great Books (Abridged) followed by Completely Hollywood (Abridged) and reduced the first five seasons of the hit television series Lost into a comical 10 minutes for Sky TV. By popular demand, their current show is a (revised) return to their roots.

The Times called it “stupendous, anchorless joy,” The Guardian praised it as “rollicking, fast-moving and hilarious” and The Today Show said “if you like Shakespeare, you’ll love this show. If you hate Shakespeare, you’ll love this show.”

Tickets cost £17.50 or £15.50 for concessions. For more information or to book, call 01536 470470 or visit the theatre’s website
