Ballet fans will be in for a treat this month when the classic stories of Swan Lake and Romeo & Juliet are played out at Kettering’s Lighthouse Theatre.
These productions are being brought to the stage by the Russian State Ballet and Opera House.
Swan Lake and Romeo & Juliet are widely recognised as classic ballets, featuring much-loved scores by composers Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev.
The story of Swan Lake is woven around two girls, Odette and Odile, who resemble each other so closely they can easily be mistaken for each other. In this legend, Odette is turned into a swan by an evil curse.
The Romeo & Juliet ballet tells the tale of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy.
A spokeswoman said: “William Shakespeare’s story of Romeo & Juliet was one of the first works of literature to inspire ballet choreographers.
“Set to one of Prokofiev’s most evocative scores, this production is filled with beautiful dance, riveting battles and compelling drama.”
Swan Lake will be performed at 7.30pm on Friday, October 25 and Romeo & Juliet on Saturday, October 26.
Tickets range from £21 to £23. Combined tickets for both shows cost £41. See www.lighthousetheatre.co.uk
