Stepping into the Astaire film role

The hit film musical starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Top Hat, is now a spectacular stage show.

The show is coming to Milton Keynes Theatre with a cast of 29 performers and starring Alan Burkitt in the Fred Astaire role and Charlotte Gooch stepping into the dancing shoes of Ginger Rogers.

There are some great songs in the show including Cheek To Cheek, Top Hat, White Tie and Tails and Isn’t It A Lovely Day To Be Caught In The Rain. The songs were written by Irving Berlin and some classics from his back catalogue, that were not in the original film, have been included in the show – Let’s Face The Music and Puttin’ On The Ritz.

It tells the story of famous American tap dancer Jerry Travers who meets the girl of his dreams in London.

The show comes after a successful West End run, winning three Olivier Awards, for Best New Musical, Best Choreography and Best Costume Design, and the show is also te winner of the Evening Standard Award for Best Night Out.
