The story of Cinderella will be bringing some Christmas magic to the Royal & Derngate stage this week when the annual festive panto begins.

The star-studded cast will be led by Loose Women presenter Denise Welch and comedian Bobby Davro.

Bobby returns to Northampton by popular demand as the character Buttons, following his well received performance in last year’s festive show. A well-known impressionist, game show host and actor, he soared to fame in the 1980s with TV shows such as Bobby Davro on The Box and Bobby’s Sketch Pad, before joining the BBC to make Rock With Laughter. He also made his “straight acting” debut in EastEnders as the loveable rogue Vinnie Monks.

Denice, who will be appearing as the Fairy Godmother, is perhaps best known for presenting Loose Women, but has also appeared in Coronation Street, Waterloo Road and Soldier Soldier. Earlier this year she also won Celebrity Big Brother and made an emotional appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

This year’s panto promises “beautiful sets, lavish costumes and real Shetland ponies to take Cinders to the ball.”

Cinderella will run at the Royal & Derngate from Friday, December 7 until Sunday, January 6. Tickets cost from £16 to £24. These can be booked on 01604 624811 or online at
