Pals join Lee Nelson at Derngate

Irrepressible geezer, Lee Nelson, is set to bring his individual world view to Northampton with his new, “well funny” live show at the Royal & Derngate on Saturday.

Lee is the loveable, dim-witted alter ego of comedian and former doctor, Simon Brodkin, whose other creations, including idiotic Premiership footballer, Jason Bent, and bungling medic, Dr Bob, will join the fun.

When Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show first hit screens in 2010, its star’s eager interaction with the audience made it an instant success.

The Times described it as having “the raucous energy of an Ann Summers party, in a good way”. Brodkin was arrested in character as Lee Nelson last year, when he attempted to ‘steal’ one of his own DVDs from a shop in London.

He courted publicity with another prank in March of this year by running on to the pitch as Jason Bent at Goodison Park during the warm-up for the Everton v Manchester City Premier League football match.

Lee’s show will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £23.50. Call 01604 624811 or visit

The show is recommended for ages 18 and above.
