No way out for damned trio at Northampton church

Masque are performing No Way Out by Jean-Paul Sartre next month.

The play is about three deceased characters trapped in a room for eternity with no way out. One of Sartre’s most famour quotations “hell is other people” comes from this play.

In it we see three characters who are brought to the same room in Hell and are locked inside.

At first none of them want to admit the reason why they have ended up in Hell.

They expect to be punished with torture devices but in fact there is just a plain room with just the three of them in it.

The production is directed by Josh Judd and the actors are Gavin Harrison, Gemma Knight and Lisa Shepherd. It uses multi-media techniques to tell the story as each performer’s view of the situation is projected onto a screen.

No Way Out is on from April, 1 to 5 at 7.30pm at The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Sheep Street, Northampton. Tickets are £8 (£7 cons/students).
