Comic actor Michael Winslow, best known as Sergeant Motor Mouth from the Police Academy movies, is heading for The Core theatre.

He is bringing his sell-out Edinburgh Fringe Show to the Corby theatre, which has just announced its summer programme.

Winslow takes to the stage on Saturday, June 16, with his The Man of 10,000 Voices show and his appearance is one of the highlights of the new season which combines the best of British with international work.

Chris Sudworth, creative director at The Core, said: “Other highlights include the talented young dancers of Ballet Central, a blues musical extravaganza from Jake and Elwood with their Blues Brothers favourites and an evening with best-selling author and raconteur Gervase Phinn.

“We are also delighted to be part of the East Midlands Children’s Theatre and Dance Festival Jump In, bringing top international children’s companies to the region.

“The pioneering international theatre festival, Contacting The World, also brings exciting young performance companies to Corby from Thailand and the USA.

“We have an exciting range of events from comedy, music, dance, the spoken word, children’s shows and film, showcasing the best of British talent with an added international flavour.”

Other treats for the new season are stand-up comedian Mark Steel, with a show tailored to Corby, following on from his award-winning Radio 4 show Mark Steel’s In Town, and later in the year popular Scottish funnyman Danny Bhoy visits The Core with his show Wanderlust in October.

Nostalgic wartime classics will delight the audience in We’ll Meet Again: The Diamond Jubilee Show on May 11.

Ballet Central will be at The Core in May and will be working with young local dancers in two free workshops, exploring themes and ideas from the production.

In An Evening with Gervase Phinn on June 28 the best-selling author and radio and TV personality will entertain audiences with his hilarious tales of life as a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales.
