Much-loved children’s characters The Moomins are to appear in a new show which premieres in town from today (May 22).
The musical family adventure for the Moomins is on at Royal & Derngate in Northampton until June 1.
The show Moominsummer Madness is full of puppetry, music and humour.
It tells the story of the Moomins’ adventure aboard a floating theatre where mysterious things happen.
After a huge flood sweeps through their valley strange things go on.
There is a door in the floor. The scenery starts to change and everyone is wondering where Moomintroll, Little My and Snork Maiden disappear to. The only way to get to the bottom of it all, it seems, is to put on a play.
The show is a production between the Royal & Derngate’s Underground Studio and London’s Polka Theatre.
Moominsummer Madness can be seen in Royal & Derngate’s Underground Studio from Thursday, May 22, to Sunday, June 1, before transferring to the Polka Theatre in London. The first two days are exclusively for schools. Tickets for family performances from Saturday, May 24, to Sunday, June 1, are £10 each.
