Fans of Dirty Dancing could well have the time of their lives this week when the Royal & Derngate hosts a tribute to this famous dance movie.
A Night of Dirty Dancing takes a trip back to the summer of ’63, reliving Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey’s sizzling performance in the ultimate coming-of-age romance.
All the hits from the legendary soundtrack are performed in this fast moving, choreographed concert, including She’s Like the Wind, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Hey Baby, Wipeout, Do You Love Me, Be My Baby, Hungry Eyes and the Oscar-winning The Time of My Life.
Winner of ITV’s Stars in Their Eyes for his stunning portrayal of Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow, Paul Doody leads an all-star cast of 26 West End performers. In addition to all the hits from the film there will be a touching tribute to the late Patrick Swayze, with a medley of songs from his other iconic movie appearances, including Unchained Melody from Ghost and Mad World from Donnie Darko.
This evening of music is a tribute to the show rather than the West End musical itself.
A Night of Dirty Dancing comes to Royal & Derngate on Thursday, November 1 at 8pm. To book tickets, priced at £23, call 01604 624811 or visit www.royalandderngate.co.uk
