It looks like tomorrow might turn out nice again at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate as the theatre hosts a celebration of the life of one of Britain’s greatest performers... George Formby.

Following a successful tour last year, Ewan Wardrop is currently undertaking a 23-venue national tour with the show, Formby.

The production charts George’s rise from awkward stable boy to one of the country’s biggest stars. In a one-man performance, Ewan plays the title role, as well as other key characters who formed a part in his life.

The show features many of George’s classic hits, brilliantly recreated on the ukulele, including Blackpool Rock, Leaning On A Lamp-Post, When I’m Cleaning Windows, TT Races, Mr Wu and many more.

Ewan is an actor, dancer and musical comedian. He has appeared regularly on the comedy circuit and has even been principal performer with Matthew Bourne’s ballet company. He played leading roles in Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. As an actor, he has appeared in stage shows including Terence Rattigan’s The Deep Blue Sea and films such as Waiting for Sunrise.

Formby will start at 7.45pm. Tickets cost £16. See www.royalanderngate.co.uk or call 01604 624811.
