King of showbusiness, Des O’Connor, will be returning to his home county this week to perform in a show at The Deco theatre, Northampton.

The one-man show, An Evening With Des O’Connor is said to be full of laughter, song and music as well as plenty of stories from Des’s long career on stage and screen.

Des is no stranger to Northampton as, during the war, he was evacuated to the town from London. After carrying out National Service with the RAF, he made his first theatre appearances in variety before being given his big break in television.

Since his first TV series in 1963, he starred in or hosted his own mainstream TV show every year for more than 45 years; longer than anyone, anywhere in the world. His American series was shown in more than 40 countries and seen by 200 million people worldwide.

In 2001 he received the Special Recognition Award at the National TV Awards. He has also been awarded the CBE for his services to entertainment and broadcasting.

Tickets for his show, which will take place on Saturday at 7.30pm, cost £19.50 for adults and £17.50 for concessions. Contact 01604 622749 or visit www.
