Dead-pan Canadian Stewart Francis at Royal & Derngate

Stewart Francis, a dead-pan Canadian-born comedian, known for his killer one-liners, will be returning to Northampton’s Royal & Derngate on Wednesday with his latest show, Outstanding In His Field.

Fans of the comic’s appearances on Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo and 8 Out of 10 Cats, will be familiar with his no-nonsense approach to humour.

He promises audiences that his live show will offer “more bang for your buck”, adding: “I like to go on and blow your socks off. I don’t need people to know who I am or assume that they’d want to know who I am, so I steer clear of all that and do my silly gags and then we all get on with our lives.”

Francis clearly has a successful, winning formula as he was earlier this year awarded the coveted Joke of the Fringe trophy at Edinburgh.

The Guardian called him “a brilliant comic brain... who cracks some of the best one-liners I’ve ever heard.”

Tickets for the Northampton show cost £18.50 and the evening’s entertainment will begin at 7.30pm.
