One of the best-loved classic ballets of all time will be gliding on to The Castle stage in Wellingborough.
There will be a treat for all fans of this style of dance as Moscow Ballet will be arriving in Wellingborough tomorrow and Saturday to stage Swan Lake at 7.30pm on both nights.
The story of Swan Lake is now well-known but for those who are unfamiliar with the ballet, the show starts as the character Prince Siegfried reaches his 21st birthday.
He must select his future wife from the ladies attending his formal ball.
However, when he meets Odette, Queen of the Swans, he falls helplessly in love.
Only true love can save Odette from the spell that has been cast on her by evil sorcerer Von Rothbart, so he proposes marriage. But his proposal is not as it seems and the course of true love is at risk.
A spokesman for the show said: “Moscow Ballet – La Classique has thrilled ballet lovers during hugely successful tours of Egypt, Morocco, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Norway, Israel, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand as well as the UK and this world-famous company have gained vast international acclaim. Some of the male dancers in this talented company have themselves achieved star status in their own country and Andrey Lyapin is one such principal dancer, who is featured in this most entertaining production of Swan Lake.”
Tickets to see Swan Lake at The Castle theatre in Wellingborough cost £21 or £19. Tickets for those aged under 18 cost £16.
