Spectacular ice shows are no longer solely reserved for audiences in full time skating rinks.

‘On ice’ tours have been proving that theatres can also provide suitable settings for shows packed with daredevil skating antics.

And this week the Derngate stage in Northampton will be transformed into an ice rink for the show, Celebrities On Ice.

Celebrities will be joined on the ice by the International Ice Stars, as well as skating professionals from the TV show, Dancing On Ice.

Hosted by ‘national treasure’, Christopher Biggins, the line-up includes special guests Gareth Thomas, Matt Lapinskas and Dancing On Ice champion, Beth Tweddle. Also in the show will be former rugby union star, Kyran Bracken, and singer, Chico.

A spokesman said: “The show promises a fun-packed evening with spectacular skating, death-defying aerial acrobats, juggling, circus tricks, singing, audience participation and laughter in abundance for the whole family to enjoy.

“Complete with live music and packed with brand new choreography from ice show creator, Phil Winston, and seven-times British champion, Steven Cousins, the public will get to see their favourite celebrities and the world renowned International Ice Stars perform breathtaking and extravagant routines.”

Celebrities On Ice can be seen at 8pm on Friday, June 7 and also at 2.30pm and 8pm on Saturday, June 8. There will also be performances at 1.30pm and 5.30pm on Sunday, June 9. Tickets cost from £21 to £31.
