Callow brings the story of Jesus to life

Biblical tales are brought to life by actor Simon Callow in a show called The Man Jesus which looks at Jesus through the eyes of the people who knew him.

Simon Callow is well known from his performances in the films Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, Room with a View and Amadeus.

He is also known for a series of one-man shows which have toured including The Importance of Being Oscar, The Mystery of Charles Dickens and Being Shakespeare.

In this performance, which is on at Royal & Derngate on Monday, November 3, Callow tells the stories of the raising of Lazarus, the wedding at Cana and the journey to Jerusalem among others.

He portrays all involved including traitors and tyrants, people of faith and people with no faith.

The show premiered at Belfast’s Lyric Theatre and is now on a limited UK tour. It has been described as a thought-provoking, thrilling and witty performance.

The Man Jesus is on the Royal stage for one performance only on Monday, November 3, at 7.45pm.
