Young actors are to make their stage debut tonight with the help of acclaimed Scottish theatre directors.
Corby Young Actors are staging Manifesto at The Core theatre after taking part in its six-month performers’ training programme.
The show, which will also be performed tomorrow night, explores the beauty and bitterness of what people want to say and how they choose to say it.
The actors, aged between 15 and 25, have been working with Glas(s) Performance, which has directed work for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The National Theatre of Scotland.
The Core’s creative projects manager, Lisa Byrne, said: “It’s been great to see our first group of young actors developing and growing in confidence.
“Working with a critically acclaimed company like Glas(s) Performance has been an amazing experience for them and in spending intensive rehearsal periods creating their show Manifesto, they have really developed as an ensemble.”
The actors have shared their own experiences to create the new piece of autobiographical theatre and Manifesto combines different aspects of performance, including comedy and live music.
The creative team at The Core will be holding auditions on Thursday, June 7, to find a new group of performers to be part of the next Corby Young Actors Company in September.
The shows tonight and tomorrow start at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 from the box office on 01536 470470.
