All relationships have their high and low points, but how these are greeted depends very much on the age of those involved.
This is one of the themes dealt with as part of the latest play tackled by The Playhouse Theatre company in Northampton.
Abi Morgan’s Love Song, which will be directed by Philip Welsh, tells the story of a couple in their 20s, and the same man and woman a lifetime later.
The tale tracks how the optimism of youth can become the wisdom of experience.
The story reveals more about a happy, childless marriage, focusing on the 40 years its central characters have spent together.
A spokeswoman said: “Their past and present selves collide in this haunting and beautiful tale of togetherness.”
Abi Morgan is a well-known scriptwriter for TV, stage and film, with a credit list including the movie The Iron Lady (which starred Meryl Streep) and TV’s The Hour and Sex Traffic.
The play will be performed at The Playhouse Theatre in Clare Street, Northampton from Tuesday, January 28 until Saturday, February 1, at 7.45pm each day.
Tickets cost £8 or £6.50. To book, call the box office on 01604 627791 or visit www.theplayhousetheatre.net
