Sounds of the Swinging 60s at Royal & Derngate

The swinging sounds of the 1960s will return to Royal & Derngate tonight when the Solid Silver 60s tour heads to the venue.

The show will feature Mike Pender, Dave Berry and Wayne Fontana, backed by the New Amen Corner, with special guest stars, The Merseybeats.

As the original voice of The Searchers, Mike Pender played on the same Liverpool circuit as The Beatles, honing his songs in Hamburg’s infamous Star Club.

His hits included Sweets For My Sweet, Sugar and Spice, Needles and Pins and Don’t Throw Your Love Away.

Dave Berry is best known for the ballad, The Crying Game, and Wayne Fontana’s first big hit came with his band, The Mindbenders.

Special guests, The Merseybeats, are led by founder members Tony Crane and Billy Kinsley, whose hits include Sorrow, Don’t Turn Around and Wishin’ and Hopin’.

The show is on tonight, Thursday. Tickets cost £25 and doors open at 7.30pm.
