An exquisite ballet production of Romeo and Juliet will be performed by the Moscow City Ballet at the Royal & Derngate, Northampton, tonight.

The magical performance is ideal for the whole family, combining extraordinary costumes and enchanting sets with artistry, technique and a beautifully told narrative, accompanied by the Moscow Ballet Orchestra.

Probably the world’s best-known love story, Romeo and Juliet is set to Prokofiev’s dramatic score, a masterpiece of 20th century music, captivating the dark undertones of this ill-fated tale.

In this powerful production, Renaissance Verona is brought to life as audiences follow two star-crossed teenage lovers from their first meeting to their untimely and tragic death.

Formed in 1988, Moscow City Ballet boasts some of the most accomplished and artistic soloists and a sublime corps de ballet. With an impressive and distinctive style, Moscow City Ballet was one of the first Russian companies to perform across the UK and continues to do so more than 30 years later.

The show is on tonight at 7.30pm.
