The Peter King Quartet play at The Castle in Wellingborough tonight.

King has been a major influence on the British jazz scene since he played, aged 18, at the opening of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.

His first instrument is the alto sax, but he also plays soprano and tenor.

He is an arranger and a composer who is interested in, and has been influenced by, classical music, and he has written an opera.

As well as working with many jazz musicians he has also played with Everything But The Girl, the Charlie Watts Quintet and Jeff Beck.

At The Castle, his quartet will include Steve Melling on piano, Andy Cleyndert on double bass, and Mark Fletcher on drums.

Tickets cost £12.50. Doors open at 8pm.
