Fans of Northampton’s Sir Malcolm Arnold will no doubt already be aware of this week’s festival, celebrating his life, which will take place at Royal & Derngate this weekend.

Plenty of details on everything taking place can be found on this music page and also on this week’s arts page.

Elsewhere, there are lots of other musical events coming up in the next few weeks.

Those who love piano music will be in for a treat on November 13, at 7.45pm, as Oundle School’s Great Hall will become the setting for an evening of entertainment focused on this instrument.

Performers will be from Oundle School’s keyboard department. Admission is free.

I have also been asked to give an early preview of the annual Armistice concert and Act of Remembrance, which is due to take place on Saturday, November 9, at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Sheep Street, Northampton.

The concert will feature the John Cleveland Band, conducted by Eric Darlington.

Doors will open at 7pm and the concert will start at 7.30pm. A collection will be taken for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

A mixture of music will also be on offer at Northampton Concert Orchestra’s It’s Showtime! event, taking place this Saturday at 7.30pm at Abington Avenue United Reformed Church in Northampton. The programme will include performances of the Light Cavalry Overture by Suppe and selections of music from The Student Prince (Romberg), among others. Tickets cost £6, available on the door.
