It might not be the time of year for traditional seaside holidays just yet, but there will be a definite nautical theme to one concert coming up in Northampton on Saturday.

The Sea and Storm in Song concert, featuring the Northampton Bach Choir and the National Festival Orchestra, will take place at St Matthew’s Church in Kettering Road, at 7.30pm.

Music will include A Sea Symphony, by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Proud Music of the Storm, by Stephen Chatman. Tickets cost £16, £14 for concessions or £5 for students. Call 01327 871973 or 01604 250905. Limited tickets available on door.

Those who love choral music may also enjoy Wellingborough Orpheus Choir’s forthcoming performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, due to take place at 7.30pm on Saturday at St Barnabas Church, Wellingborough.

The Orpheus will be joined by members of the County Junior and Youth Choirs and will be using Orff’s arrangement for two pianos and percussion. Also on stage will be professional soloists, Nicholas Moodie and Michelle Todd. Tickets cost £12 or £10 for concessions. Available on door, from Irvin’s House of Flavour in High Street, Wellingborough or by calling 01933 665191.

Also on Saturday, Kettering Symphony Orchestra will present its Spring Concert (music by Brahms, Mozart and Berlioz) at Southfield School for Girls, Kettering at 7.30pm. Tickets £8 or family tickets available at £10 and £20 (with which children under 12 go free). Available on door.
