London’s brass juggernaut the Hackney Colliery Band bring their catchy compositions and cunning cover versions to The Castle next weekend.
With a tongue-in-cheek, yet respectful, nod to the great tradition of British brass bands, Hackney Colliery’s influences are as diverse as the London borough that gave them their name.
Inspired by New Orleans marching bands, Balkan beats, contemporary hip-hop, dubstep and R&B, sizzling Latin brass, African polyrhythms and high-octane rock, the Hackney Colliery Band bring the UK colliery brass band tradition bang up to date.
In recent years, the band have played with the late Amy Winehouse and Eliza Doolittle, as well as headlining the Manchester Jazz and Durham Brass Festivals and playing at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in London
They play the Wellingborough venue on Saturday, November 14, at 8pm.
Tickets cost £10 before fees by calling 01933 270 007 or online at www.thecastle.org.uk
