People who enjoy good food and drink will enjoy a food festival next weekend.
With two for one vouchers on tasty treats, up to 25 per cent off food and drink bills and discounts on everything from all-day breakfasts to cocktails, ice cream sundaes to afternoon teas, the only complaints that visitors to the new Love Northampton Food and Drink Festival on Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, will have is from their weighing scales.
The free festival, being funded by the Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) and supported by Northampton Council, is taking place at The Guildhall and will see restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars across the town centre tempting diners and drinkers with festival vouchers and extended special offers, many of which will last well throughout the month, while also promoting the best of Northamptonshire produce on their menus.
Among almost 30 eateries and drinking holes getting involved are Sophia’s on Bridge Street, who are creating a special Festival Pizza made using yeast from nearby Phipps NBC brewery, the Wig and Pen on St Giles Street, who are offering an all-you-can eat barbecue using meat from Coales of Kettering, while Sazerac on Castillian Street is one of a number of bars who are literally joining in the spirit of the event with specially themed Northamptonshire cocktails.
Festival visitors can pick up their booklet of vouchers from the courtyard of The Guildhall where they can sample and buy from the members of Made In Northamptonshire – the networking group set up to support and promote the county’s food and drink producers.
In addition, there will be cookery demonstrations and free tastings, with visitors having the chance to sample the newly unveiled finalists in the food and drink categories of this year’s Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards.
Gavin Wills, BID director and owner of Gavin Wills Creative Marketing on Sheep Street, said: “As a town centre business, I’m extremely excited about the Love Northampton Food and Drink Festival.
“It is a great opportunity to attract so many visitors and for my staff, family, friends and foodies it is a chance not only to enjoy some wonderful offers but also to meet local chefs, taste some great county food and drink, pick up some culinary tips and, of course, soak up a great atmosphere.”
