The team at Farrington’s Mellow Yellow share their favourite recipe ideas.

Farrington’s are Britain’s original “seed to bottle” producers of cold pressed rapeseed oil – grown, pressed and bottled in Northamptonshire.

Vicki from Farrington’s shares her stunning recipe using broad beans and Farrington’s Mellow Yellow cold pressed rapeseed oil.

The rest of the team at Farrington’s got to try some and we can all say, it’s pretty amazing!

Vicki wanted to use her abundant crop of broad beans and made batches which she then put in the freezer.

“Serve in a bowl with warm pitta bread, crudities or tortillas as a simple lunch or dip,” says Vicki. 

Also delicious served warm alongside barbequed lamb.


1 cup of freshly podded broad beans

1 bay leaf

¼ cup water

3 garlic claves

2 tbs mint

2 tbs parsley

1 tbs Mellow Yellow cold pressed rapeseed oil

2 tbs lemon juice

½ tsp salt

Pinch of smoked paprika


Bring water and bay leaf to boil and lightly blanch broad beans. 

Retain 1 tablespoon of liquid before straining and cooling.

In food processor, blend beans, retained liquid and remaining ingredients until just combined.
