Shambala and Greenbelt’s online broadcasts to offer festival fans digital entertainment

The Shambala and Greenbelt festivals were originally due to take place this weekend before being postponed due to the coronavirus but both are streaming performances online.

Two festivals which were due to take place this weekend are giving fans the chance to experience them digitally.

Both Shambala and Greenbelt festivals were set for different locations in Northamptonshire over the bank holiday weekend.

However, like other events and festivals across the country, they were cancelled because of the coronavirus.

However, Greenbelt ‘Wild At Home’ and ‘A Taste Of Shambala’ will both be aiming to bring some of the best each has to offer to fans online.

Shambala kicked off four days of entertainment yesterday and performances continue today and throughout the weekend.

From 8pm on Friday, August 28, there will be performances from Son Of Dave, Wiyaala and headliners Henge.

Saturday begins at 5pm and will include a dance celebration workshop, the anti-social club cabaret takeover, Krafty Kuts, Freestylers and DJ Dazee & MC Chickaboo.

Shambala’s final day on Sunday will begin at 6pm, with Alice Phoebe and Sona Jobarteh among the performers. From 8.45pm there will be a fireworks finale.

The performances will be streamed via AIDU at https://www.aidu.tv/a-taste-of-shambala-digital-weekender-2020 and on https://www.youtube.com/user/ShambalaFestivalGreenbelt has dozens of performances and discussions taking place on Saturday, August 29, before The Great Big Festival Picnic follows on Sunday, August 30.

There is a mix of music, spoken word, comedy and conversation from 10.30am.

In the Canopy, headliners Jonny and the Baptists will be joined by acts including Hope & Social, Jake Isaac, Crys Matthews and Wallis Bird who will be performing during the day.

In the Pagoda, there will be discussions around Palestine, Black Lives Matter, climate change and other topics.

The Great Big Festival Picnic on the Sunday begins at 12.30pm.
