Record Store Day returns this weekend

Record Store Day returns this week with independent record shops in the county getting ready for the annual event.

Spunout in Gold Street, Northampton, will be stocking a number of year’s releases while also having in store entertainment.

Chris Kent, from Spunout, said: “We’d like to invite music fans to join us in a day of live music, DJ sets and giveaways at the shop.

“The music industry and media support for this annual international event is massive. Each year more and more artists are getting behind it to release limited records and CDs especially for this day to show their love for the humble local record shop.”

At Spunout there will be music by Thee Telepaths and DJs sets from Kev Palmer and Swiss Vince.

Vinyl Underground in Abington Street will also be stocking Record Store Day releases and be opening at 8am. There will be live music by Tender B and Jamaican street food by Boxfood.

Prominent releases this year include tracks by Noel Gallagher, Madonna, Muse and David Bowie.

Spiral Archive in St Michael’s Road, Northampton will be having a half price sale on all vinyl and CDs from 11am until 4pm with a record fair at the Lamplighter from midday to 4pm before DJs play from 8pm to 1am. Record Store Day is on Saturday, April 16.
