Raging Speedhorn ready release of sixth album Hard To Kill

Corby metallers Raging Speedhorn have revealed details of their sixth album which is due out next month.

Hard To Kill was recorded at Parlour Studios in Kettering with Russ Russell (Napalm Death, At The Gates) and is the follow up to 2016’s LP Lost Ritual.

The album sees the band again upping their own ante in terms of song-writing finesse, playing riff-fuelled dirty heavy metal with aplomb.

Released on October 23, it is the first album to feature new vocalist Dan Cook who replaced John Loughlin who had fronted the band for more than two decades.

“This album is straight-up Raging Speedhorn with added extras,” explains founding co-frontman Frank Regan.

“Right now, the band is on fire, the vibe is amazing and we’re so happy to be back playing music.

“Six albums in and we’re still loving what we do.”

Cook is a name already familiar to fans of Raging Speedhorn, having previously stood in for both Loughlin and Regan on different occasions.

Founding drummer Gordon Morison and guitarist Jim Palmer are also joined in the band by new guitarist Dave Leese and former Hundred Reasons bassist Andy Gilmour.

Hard To Kill was recorded before the coronavirus pandemic and the video for the title track, which was released last week, has already clocked up more than 10,000 views online.

Elsewhere on the album, the title track is as monstrous and infectious as the sentiment itself, Spitfire is a groove-fuelled beast, while Doom Machine and Hammer Down are slow-paced, sludge behemoths that deliver with the ferocity that you’d expect from the band.

The nine-track album ends with a version of T-Rex’s Children Of The Revolution.

Over the course of 20 years, Raging Speedhorn have built a solid and long-standing reputation as one of the UK’s leading metal outfits.

Since the release of their eponymous debut in 2000, they have enjoyed a career built on stunning raucous live shows and albums to boot.

Last year, they released a live recording of their 2018 gig at London’s Electric Ballroom, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the band.
