The Northamptonshire organiser for the country's most popular contemporary choir will be leading a national online sing-a-long next week.

Rock Choir has been hosting a rehearsal for its 32,000 members and anyone else live on its Facebook page every day since the coronavirus lockdown began to keep Britain singing.

Dave Easter, who organises the Rock Choirs in Northampton, Daventry, Higham Ferrers, Wellingborough and Market Harborough, will be leading the sing-a-long on Tuesday (April 28).

A Rock Choir spokesman said: "In the last 28 days we have achieved a collective reach of one million households with our daily dose of uplifting singing sessions.

"We are committed to providing this essential daily routine for the entire Covid-19 lockdown."

Rock Choir, which was set up 15 years ago, creates its own unique versions of feel-good and popular contemporary songs offering its members the chance to learn, enjoy and perform with no prior musical or singing experience.

With rehearsals taking place in over 400 towns across the UK, each choir enjoys a fulfilling social life following the ethos of support and nurturing while using music as a platform for health and well-being.

The lockdown has not deterred the Rock Choir team or its 'Rockies' as they move to a 'virtual Rock Choir world tour' and the daily rehearsals at 3pm on Facebook.
