Kettering likes to be by the seaside
There'll be plenty to smile about as the British seaside comes to Kettering.
The Market Place hosts the Kettering by the Sea bringing a taste of the traditional British seaside combined with a host of free activities.
Activities will run from Thursday July 21 to Saturday August 13 every day except Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
Orgnaisers of the event Kettering Borough Council is urging people to grab a bucket and spade and enjoy magic, theatre, arts and crafts, live music, animals and lots more.
Cllr Lesley Thurland, Kettering Borough Council’s portfolio holder for community and culture, said: “There are so many free activities during Kettering by the Sea and it’s fantastic that we are able to offer such a full programme for all ages every summer.
“I hope that people will also make the most of the award winning Museum and Art Gallery and enjoy Kettering by the Sea in the sun this year!”
The first week will see a Punch & Judy show, a hoop dance and a performance from Starlight Dance and Musical Theatre School summer showcase.
Week two sees The Wind in the Willows performed by Northampton based Looking Glass Theatre and a display of West Lodge Farm Animals. Music comes from the KBA Steel Band and there will be an open mic day.
Steve the Magician and a super heroes and heroines family fun day is amongthe entertainment for the third week. A creation show event is also to be held at the event.
The four week seaside fun will be completed by a science and storytelling show, a mini beast road show and hoop dance.
