Greek drama gets an update

A take on a classic Greek drama mixed with no holds barred comedy is coming to The Castle Theatre in Wellingborough.

Lysistrata is Aristophanes’ comedy of abstinence and excess is coming to the stage by a nationally acclaimed Actors of Dionysus.

Aristophanes’ historical drama has been brought up to date in a performance that tells the ancient story of the bawdy battle between the sexes.

In a fast-paced romp the heroine, Lysistrata, and the women of Greece form a pact to bring an end to the Peloponnesian War.

Their method is simple – they refuse to have sex with their husbands and lovers.

Naturally, tensions mount, frustrations erupt in more ways than one in this battle of sexes. But which side will come out on top,

Tickets are priced from between £12 and £14 for the show staged on Wednesday March 23 starting at 7.30pm.
