Damned to play three hour show

In perpetration for a sold out 40th anniversary show at the Royal Albert Hall next week, The Damned headline The Roadmender on Wednesday.

The iconic punk band are celebrating the anniversary of the single New Rose which was released in 1967 and is considered by many as the first UK punk rock single.

Both the Royal Albert Hall and Roadmender are three hour sets, which will see the band playing every song they have recorded.

Original members Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible are joined in the band by keyboard player Monty Oxymoron, drummer Pinch and bassist Stu West.

The Damned formed in 1976, and played their first gig supporting The Sex Pistols at the 100 Club. They released the albums Damned Damned Damned and Music For Pleasure the following year.

A number of albums followed during the 1980s, with the punk band embracing the goth rock genre. They play the Northampton venue on Wednesday, May 18. Doors open at 7pm with the band on stage at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20 in advance before fees.
