We all know a ‘Danny’, an ordinary teenager who is a bit withdrawn, rarely emerging from their bedroom to interact with the real world.

This story is about Danny McIntyre, who is obsessed with comic books and heroes, and feels compelled to take up the mantle of Danny Hero when he discovers his arch nemesis in the form of a charming businessman who threatens his community.

Danny Hero promises to wow audiences with contemporary staging, heartfelt songs which reflect the town’s history and a great story of courage in adversity.

Rehearsals have been in full swing since June at a space generously provided by Corby Amateur Theatrical Society, who have also provided some of the cast and creative team. Talent has also been drawn from many other local groups, including Genesis Theatre Schools, Eclipse Performing Arts, Corby Male Voice Choir, Deep Roots Tall Trees choir, Theats and Rushden Amateur Theatrical Society.

Students and tutors from Tresham’s Performing Arts department have thrown themselves into this opportunity, as well as staff at Lodge Park, Hazel Leys and Kingswood Schools.

Through a partnership with Perfect Pitch, Made In Corby have been working with West End production experts to bring Danny’s imagination to life. Digital cartoon-style graphics will be shown on giant LED screens as part of the stage setting to intensify the story in a new and creative way.

Danny Hero shows at The Core at Corby Cube until Saturday, October 29. For further details or to book tickets in advance call the ticket office on 01536 470470 or visit – where you can also hear a pre-release track from the musical.
