Viola Beach had been due to headline Stalkers Night at the venue on April 8.

However, the band and their manager died in a car crash in Sweden in February.

Organiser Paul Brown and the bands OhBoy!, An Army Of Lights and Fox Chapel decided to go ahead with the gig and help to raise money for the families of the band.

Mr Brown said: “I was absolutely thrilled with the turn out, to sell out before the night was great.

“I had been looking at Viola Beach for some time to play my birthday gig and knew their booking agent.

“It was awful to hear about the terrible accident.

“You read about older musicians dying which is sad, but to have a whole band and manager taken at a young age is just horrible.

“I think the wrist bands on the night shows how important it is for people to support your local music scene.

“There were three quality local bands playing this evening but what was pleasing to me was to see lots of bands in the audience supporting them.”

The show helped to raise £500.
