10cc to play classic album in full in Northampton
Art-pop pioneers 10cc will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their seminal album Sheet Music at Royal & Derngate next week.
Led by 10cc co-founder Graham Gouldman, the band will perform two sets.
The first will be the LP in its entirety, with a pause for the symbolic turning of the vinyl album.
Released in 1974, Sheet Music reached number nine in the UK album charts.
The album remains a masterclass in the composition of popular music and typifies the eclecticism and invention that characterised the band’s earlier work.
The album is said to have influenced Freddie Mercury and Queen.
The second part of the concert will include a selection of the band’s other hits including their three number ones I’m Not In Love, Dreadlock Holiday and Rubber Bullets.
The current live band features Gouldman, Rick Fenn, Mick Wilson, Paul Burgess and Keith Hayman.
Recent high-profile gigs have included the O2 in London with Status Quo, the Royal Albert Hall and British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park.
They play the Northampton venue on Wednesday, October 12. Doors open at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £33.50 before fees and are available by calling 01604 624811 or online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk.
