Voting now open for Corby's annual sports awards

Corby Council is inviting people to vote for the great sports men and women of Corby.

The annual sports awards aim to celebrate the local clubs, schools, volunteers and individuals for their contribution to sport and thank them for their hard work and dedication.

The council has invited residents to submit their nominations for the awards, which will be held at the Best Western Rockingham Forest Hotel.

The closing date for nominations is midnight on Friday, September, 16 for the following categories: Community Club of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Get Active 2016, Young Leader of the Year, Disabled Sports Achiever 2016, Local Sports Person 2016 and Long Time Contribution to Sport.

Cllr John McGhee said: “Corby’s annual sports awards are a great way to recognise those who strive in sport.

“There is such a wide sporting community in Corby and every year the level of talent just gets better and better and we love putting these awards on.”
