Saints utility back Wilson relishes running riot in Treviso romp

James Wilson relished the chance to run riot in Saints’ 11-try demolition of Treviso at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday.

The Kiwi utility man, who started the game at full-back but also played wing and fly-half during the 80 minutes, was in superb form in the 67-0 Champions Cup success.

Wilson made the most of the time and space afforded to him to play his part in several scores, earning the man of the match award in the process.

And he admits it was great to get the chance to roam free against a Treviso side who really struggled towards the end of the encounter.

“There was a lot of running,” said a smiling Wilson. “I was asking the trainers how much we racked up - hopefully it’s a lot.

“It’s nice to get the sort of space that we did.

“They’re a professional side and they were always going to bring it, particularly early on in the game.

“They’re a physical outfit, but we played really well, our passes stuck and we put away some good tries. We scored some decent ones.”
