But he knows they will not find it easy to reach the Franklin’s Gardens final after being drawn away in the final four.

Saints, who won Pool 2 thanks to a 29-6 win over Wasps on Saturday, will travel to Saracens on Saturday, March 14 (kick-off 12.30pm).

It is the fourth time in six seasons Jim Mallinder’s men have made the semi-finals of the Anglo-Welsh tournament, and they beat Saracens at that stage last year.

They were eventually beaten by Exeter Chiefs, who enjoyed home advantage in the Sandy Park showpiece, and will be keen to go one step further this time round.

“We’re pretty stoked that we’re through,” said Fotuali’i, who scored the bonus-point try against Wasps at the weekend. “We did what we needed to do and the boys are excited moving forward.

“We’ll go away for the semi and it will be tough, but we’re pretty stoked.”

Leicester Tigers will host Exeter Chiefs in the other semi-final, with the showpiece being held at the Gardens on March 22.

And Saints will hope the blend of youth and experience they have utilised in the competition so far can carry them to glory.

“A few of the older guys got a week off at Leicester but we’ve got a lot of younger guys coming through and they bring that enthusiasm,” said Fotuali’i.

“That enthusiasm mixed with a bit of knowledge means we bounce off each other really well.”
