Saints stars Burrell and Myler to miss England’s Springboks showdown

Saints duo Luther Burrell and Stephen Myler will miss England’s game against South Africa on Saturday.

The pair will remain at Franklin’s Gardens as they continue to recover from the injuries that ruled them out of the 24-21 defeat to New Zealand.

Burrell has a hand injury, while Myler is nursing a hamstring strain.

Courtney Lawes could also miss the clash with the Springboks as he continues to undergo concussion protocols.

The lock took a blow to the head during the first half of the game against the All Blacks and was forced off.

Dylan Hartley and Tom Wood also played in the opening autumn international at Twickenham and will hope to keep their place in the side.

Lee Dickson and Calum Clark were released by England last Tuesday and proceeded to grab a try apiece in Saints’ LV= Cup victory at Scarlets on Friday night.

But they are among the 34 players who have assembled at Pennyhill Park ahead of the South Africa game and will hope to be retained.

Meanwhile, George North started at centre in Wales’ 33-28 defeat to Australia on Saturday and Ken Pisi and Kahn Fotuali’i lined up for Samoa in their 24-13 loss in Italy.
