Saints scrum-half Dickson admits to England disappointment

But the scrum-half feels he has reacted well to the snub and is now aiming to continue his good form to win his place back for the Six Nations.

Dickson wasn’t given a single minute of action during the four November Tests, instead being sent back to Saints.

He has performed well for his club, helping them to wins over Saracens and London Welsh during the past two weeks.

And he said: “I’m feeling really good. These last couple of weeks have been quite tough for myself and I’ve been really disappointed not to play for England.

“I feel like I could have had a crack here and there but that’s professional rugby, things go against you and you’ve got to react to it.

“I think I’ve played well in the past couple of games and I’ve just got to keep putting my hand up this weekend, the weekend after and when we play Leicester and Harlequins.

“There are a couple of big games for Stuart (Lancaster) to watch.

“I want to play for England, I’ve bounced back and reacted well and hopefully will be back in the mix for the Six Nations.”

Dickson has shown his desire to play club rugby by ringing Saints boss Jim Mallinder to stress his eagerness to be involved.

And he said: “I’m a professional rugby player and I want to play in every game I can.

“The LV= Cup means as much to me as the Champions Cup and as soon as I knew I wasn’t playing for England it was about getting back on that rugby pitch and showing people what I’m about.

“I’m not a big fan of having a week off and I want to play rugby as much as I can.”
