Saints prop Waller to make England debut against Crusaders

Saints prop Alex Waller will play his first match for England when the tourists take on Super 15 franchise Crusaders in New Zealand on Tuesday.

Waller is one of three Saints players in the starting line-up for the midweek tour fixture, the others being Ben Foden and Lee Dickson, while Stephen Myler is named on the replacements bench.

Foden will start on the wing, with Saracens’ Alex Goode at full-back, while Dickson starts at scrum-half. Danny Cipriani is picked at 10 ahead of Myler.

All four Saints men will be hoping to catch the eye of head coach Stuart Lancaster ahead of the weekend’s third and final Test, with England 2-0 down in the series.

The four Saints players who were involved in Saturday’s second Test defeat to the All Blacks, Luther Burrell, Tom Wood, Courtney Lawes and Dylan Hartley, are all rested.

Waller is one of 11 uncapped players in the England team for the Crusaders clash.
