Salesi Ma’afu’s two-week ban for striking London Irish prop Tom Court opened the door for the 24-year-old.

Denman made his first Aviva Premiership start against Bath a couple of weeks ago and was also in from the off against Harlequins last Friday.

Saints won both matches, claiming a superb success at The Rec before edging out Quins at Franklin’s Gardens.

Denman has dealt with the Premiership pressure well and he hopes he has done enough to earn more big chances in the coming weeks and months.

“I know it came out of a bit of controversy with Salesi, but it’s been good for me to get a bit more exposure starting,” said the former Rotherham front row forward.

“It was my first Premiership start and a great win as well, which makes it even better.

“It’s just a massive confidence booster. I’d not started in a Premiership game and it shows I could do it.

“It helps my confidence going forward and there’s always a chance for me to start again.

And when asked whether he has been given any praise from Saints forwards coach Dorian West, Denman said: “He says I’m doing alright.

“He’s not a massive praise person and I’ve still got a lot to work on.”
